Anthony Dunn has over 35 years of of Self advocacy experience. He helped to set up Cornwall People First in 1985 and has been working tireless ever since to make sure the voices of people with learning disabilities and autistic people are heard, listened to and acted upon. Anthony Dunn is a Citizen Checker and Peer Advocate for Citizen Checkers CIC. Anthony signs Makaton and is our Lived Experience lead.

Ebony has been a Self Advocate and Health Champ, changing services and making sure the experience of neurodiverse people are being listened to for over 10 years. She is a committed champion for the rights of disabled people and health equality. EbonyRose Thomas is a Citizen Checker and consultant for Citizen Checkers CIC. Ebony signs Makaton and is our Peer Led training lead.

David Burns is a committed self-advocate and a champion for the self-advocate movement. He is the chairman of Cornwall People First as well as a Citizen Checker and sits on the board of directors for Citizen Checkers CIC. David works as a community networker for people leaving hospital and also delivers Peer Advocacy sessions. He signs Makaton and leads our Peer advocacy service.

Rory is a Quality Checker and a keen self-advocate. For the past six years, he has been working hard to improve the lives of others with a strong sense of equality, making the world a safer and fairer place for everyone.
Rory is very creative: he is a keen artist and a great musician. He loves nothing more than learning new skills.
When he’s not working with Citizen Checkers, he hosts a radio show and uses this as a platform to share important topics. Rory is committed to sharing his great passion for music and musicals. As Rory says “Music is like a soundtrack of your life”.
Bethany is a Quality Checker, and writes reports to capture the work of Citizen Checkers. They have a degree in English, and are creative, analytical and thoughtful. Bethany is dedicated to self-development and understanding neurodivergent experiences and mental health. Bethany is also a keen activist, passionate about people’s rights and social change. In their spare time, they play video games, write songs and sing in a local choir.
Charlotte is a brilliant listener a fantastic organiser and a dedicated team player. Charlotte helps to run Citizen Checkers CIC. She co-facilitates alongside the Citizen Checkers to run events, lead meetings, facilitate Peer advocacy sessions, and deliver training. she speaks Makaton and is our EasyRead lead.
Charlotte is a mother of two and loves horses and dogs.
Kate spenceley, CEO of Citizen Checkers CIC has a background in theatre and psychology. She has worked with neurodiverse people for over 20 years and has been working in Advocacy for lived experience organisations for the past 10 years. She is passionate about the creativity born from equality and shared aspirations, and the power of committed people to change the world.
